WHAT TRAINING SERVICES DO YOU OFFER?
United K9 Academy offers a variety Puppy Obedience, Basic Obedience, Advanced Obedience, Therapy Training, Service Dog Training, Behavior Rehabilitation Training and specialty training.
WHAT IS YOUR TRAINING METHOD?
United K9 Academy, uses a variety of training techniques to shape your dog's obedience. Our training methodology use a combination of food, toys and praise to help motivate your dog during training. Training collars may be used temporarily as a tool to help discourage unwanted behaviors. Our goal is to train and condition your dog where we don't need to use the training tools.
DO YOU WORK WITH ALL BREEDS?
All breeds, all ages, all temperaments.
ARE CONSULTATIONS FREE?
Yes, if attended at a United K9 Academy Location or within a certain mileage. Each Franchise Location may vary. If you would like an in home consultation, then there will be a $50 convenience fee plus a standard GSA travel rate of $0.57 per mile round trip charge.
General Training Questions
DO YOU WORK WITH ALL BREEDS?
All breeds, all ages, all temperaments.
HOW LONG ARE YOUR TRAINING SESSIONS?
All training lessons are 60 min. We do adjust training times to dogs that may need to go slower by splitting the lessons in half.
CAN MY CHILDREN ATTEND TRAINING SESSIONS?
Well where other training companies say " Sorry We Don't Train Husband's, Wife's and Kids " We do! It is every important that everyone in the household is on the same page.
HOW MUCH TIME SHOULD I SPEND TRAINING EACH DAY WITH MY DOG?
Train as you live! This means focus on short and frequent training sessions as you do your daily tasks. Training should fun and a time to build a bond with your dog. The more training sessions you do a day the faster you get to your goals!
WHAT IS IMPORTANT TO KNOW FOR TRAINING?
Consistency, patience, follow through and persistence is key in order to achieve your goals. Most Important never end a lesson on a bad note! Training is a lifestyle change.
WHERE ARE THE TRAINING SESSIONS HELD?
Training will be held either at a public park, your home or in dog friendly stores. This will help with working your dog in daily distractions.
AT WHAT AGE SHOULD MY DOG BE IN ORDER TO START PRIVATE LESSONS?
We do offer Puppy Training packages to help with all your puppy problems needs. As for Obedience training we would like to start the puppies as soon as they get all their shots.
Remember puppies should not be out in public with out all of its shots.
WE ARE EXPECTING A BABY! DO YOU OFFER TRAINING THAT EDUCATES OWNERS ON HOW TO INTEGRATE A BABY INTO THE HOME WITH A DOG?
Yes! Here is one quick and easy Training tip: When you baby is born the Hospital Will Most likely ask you if you have dogs. Your answer should be yes! They will give a hat that the baby was wearing with a rubber glove take that hat and put it in a plastic bag! Ok Gentlemen as your wife is recovering your job will be to run home and let the dogs out. take this bag with the hat with you. After the dogs are done running and playing. Take a few min. to sit with them calmly and pull the hat out. Let them smell it ( do not let them play with it ). Repeat steps every time you run home! You can take some burp cloths that the baby is wrapped in as well. For More info please contact us!
DOES UNITED K9 ACADEMY OFFER JUST BOARDING?
Depending on Franchise Location. We offer boarding at a discounted rate for our Training Clients. We also offer boarding for Non Training Clients as well.
Payment Questions
WHAT FORMS OF PAYMENT DOES UNITED K9 ACADEMY ACCEPT?
Cash, personal check, cashiers check, money order or credit card. If payments are made via credit card, a 3.9% credit card convenience fee added to the total cost.
IS PAYMENT REQUIRED UPFRONT?
We do offer payment plans on our training programs. We also do offer a discount for paying in full. All Board and Train programs require a down payment and this payment is nonrefundable.
DO YOU GIVE MILITARY DISCOUNTS?
We do offer military discount if there is no other discounts available at the time. The customer will always get the highest discount at the time of the Free Consultation. One discount per a dog.
WHERE DO I PURCHASE THE TRAINING EQUIPMENT?
Training collars will be offered to be purchased during the Free Consultation. We will bring them on the first lesson.
Board and Train Questions
HOW MANY DOGS DO YOU ACCEPT INTO THE BOARD AND TRAIN PROGRAM AT A TIME?
Each Trainer will accept between 1 - 2 dogs at a time for a Board and Train program. Why? Each Board and Train is worked between 3-5 hours through out the day! Also with two exercise times a day.
HOW LONG IS THE BOARD AND TRAIN PROGRAM?
There are several Board and Train Program options. Our most popular is our 14 days Board and Train Program. The program includes 14 days of one on one personalized training attention from our certified professional trainers. Your dog will be trained in basic and advanced obedience at high distraction. They will be taking to parks and dog friendly stores to help get them socialized.
WHERE WILL MY DOG BE STAYING DURING THE BOARD AND TRAIN?
Our Board and Train Programs are in our Certified Trainers home. We believe your dog lives in a home environment. So they should be trained in one.
WHAT WILL I NEED TO BRING FOR MY DURING THIER BOARD AND TRAIN STAY?
- Food for 30 days. Usually a 30 lb bag will be enough. In a seal able container! ( not a bag )
- Shot Records
- Leash and Collar with Rabies Tag
- Heartworm medication if due during board and train timeframe
WILL I NEED TO COUNTINUE TRAINING AFTER THE BOARD AND TRAIN?
Yes, When you pick up your dog from the trainer. They will spend time with you teaching you everything your dog knows. They will make sure you understand how to properly use the training equipment and commands. Once you had the dog for about a week you will need to set up your follow up lesson with your dog. This is where we make sure that everything is going well.

DO YOU WORK WITH INTACT DOGS?
Yes, we have a lot of experience working with intact dogs of all sizes, ages and breeds.
HOW OLD IS TOO OLD TO TRAIN A DOG?
No dog is ever too old to be trained.
HOW MUCH EXERCISE SHOULD MY DOG RECEIVE EACH DAY?
The key is to exercise twice a day! Before you exercise you must figure out what is the best thing for your dog. Most dogs can walk a range from 15 min. ( younger puppies ) to 45 min. walk ( adults )
DO YOU WORK WITH DOG WITH A BITE HISTORY?
Yes we work with aggressive dogs. We just ask to have a muzzle for your dog.

WHY SHOULD I GET MY SERVICE DOG TRAINED THROUGH UNITED K9 ACADEMY?
We are not here to scam you! We are here to help people that do not have the knowledge of training a dog to work as a Service K9. We make sure our clients understand the ADA Guidelines and make sure they hit their goal.
WHAT TYPES OF SERVICE DOGS TRAINING PROGRAMS DO YOU OFFER?

WHAT DO I NEED TO GET A SERVICE DOG?
You need to have a medical condition that requires you to have a service dog.

CAN I TRAIN A SERVICE DOG ON MY OWN?
Yes, You can train a service dog on your own. You just need to be able to properly train the to be obedient and to perform a task. Follow the ADA Guidelines

CAN ANY BREED BE A SERVICE DOG?
Yes, The ADA does not Discriminate breeds.

DO YOU OFFER PUBLIC ACCESS TEST TO THE PUBLIC?
Yes, We offer the public access test to the public. If you fail we will tell you what you need to work on. So you can come back and retest soon.
WHAT IS THE PUBLIC ACCESS TEST?
The United K9 Academy Public Access Test, is a test that was designed to make sure the Service K9 Team is ready for working in highly distracting environments. The last thing a Service K9 Team would want is a problem in a public place. If your dog is misbehaving you can be asked to leave that store or building.
